Spiritual Path: Practical Feet

The Bahá’í Holy Writings are very positive about encouraging parents and educators to teach children about virtuous behavior as well as getting them to discover and nurture their talents and abilities, learn about the world and look to be of service to their fellow men.

The education of children is very important. The Bahá’í Holy Writings tell us that young people are a powerful force for social change. If our children grow up feeling secure and happy with who they are and what they can do they in the world, they will grow into adults who make positive changes in their homes, communities and the world and this in turn will be of benefit to everyone.

As a result of this Bahá'í communities around the world are actively involved in running moral education classes for children and youth of all backgrounds. These classes are aimed at developing essential virtues and knowledge such as the Oneness  of God, the Oneness of religion, trustworthiness, honesty, unity, tolerance, love, patience and justice. The aim of these classes is to guide and educate children to build for themselves a strong moral framework and to help them to achieve excellence in the material, intellectual, and spiritual aspects of life.

My Best Prayer

Charlie - Mother

‘I’ve always loved being with and working with children. Now I have two of my own I love saying this prayer. To me all kids are pearls and they hold such beautiful potential. My hope is that my prayers help them to know this and feel happy’

O Thou kind Lord! These lovely children are the handiwork of the fingers of Thy might and the wondrous signs of Thy greatness.

O God!  Protect these children, graciously assist them to be educated and enable them to render service to the world of humanity.

O God!  These children are pearls, cause them to be nurtured within the shell of Thy loving-kindness. Thou art the Bountiful, the All-Loving.
